Euan Ross

Euan Ross was born in Dunoon and spent his childhood on the north shore of the Holy Loch, where his family still retains a house. Euan was one of the last ‘colonial’ officers sent overseas by Her Majesty’s Crown Agents to manage the rump of our empire. Subsequently, he became an international development consultant trespassing through many and diverse fields of expertise. He has been a life governor of the RNLI and a life member of the RYA since 1982. He is a member of the Association of Yachting Historians, an associate of the British National Yachting Archive, a member of the Holy Loch Sailing Club and an honorary life member of the Piper Class Association. Euan has raced sailboards, dinghies, catamarans, and most types of yacht, from sports-boats to maxis, with immense pleasure and occasional success. He gave up competitive sailing in 1992 and now enjoys exercising his stable of thoroughbred bicycles on the South Downs. Euan was shortlisted for 'Boater of the Year 2021' by Classic Boat Magazine, the UK's premier magazine in the field of yachting heritage.
