John M. Vogel

John Vogel is the President and Artistic Director of the JMV Art Preservation Foundation. He served in the US Air Force as a Captain from 1970 to 1974, worked as a civilian in the Office of General Counsel, Department of the Navy, from 1974 to 1981 and joined the General Electric Company in 1981. He retired from Lockheed Martin Corporation in 2002 as Vice President of LM/Management and Data Systems. John studied acting with Milton Katselas and voice with Leonard Rudko. He acted as an amateur (non-equity) with Brannan Hall, J. Kenneth Campbell and Gilbert Price. Starting in the 1970’s, John worked on revising librettos for such shows as 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Roberta, New Moon, Naughty Marietta and Eileen. He has been a guest lecturer at Pennsylvania State University, Harvard Business School and Eastern College. He has produced five projects with New World Records, including Cello and Piano works of Victor Herbert; 102 Songs of Victor Herbert; Eileen (Victor Herbert 1917 operetta); Dearest Enemy, under license from the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization (1925 production by Rodgers and Hart); and Roberta, under license from copyright owners, including the Kern and Harbach Estates (1933 production by Kern and Harbach). Following the release of Eileen, the Library of Congress praised the project on October 16, 2012: “…10,000 congratulations on Eileen. For a Herbert devotee of the first water---it's a dream come true. I hope you know what a grand thing you did for old Vic specifically and American Music in general.
