Michael Alberg-Seberich

Michael Alberg-Seberich is a passionate author, speaker and consultant. His areas of interest lie on the intersection of business and social innovation, Corporate Social Responsibility and the manifold varieties of philanthropy. Michael is a regular contributor to industry publications and blogs. Together with the Wider Sense team, he curates and hosts the Wider Sense podcast from the field. He also lectures on a variety of topics in the sector.

Michael has been one of the editors of the 2007 book Strategy of Politics and the 2004 book International Perspectives in Human Rights Education. Michael has contributed articles to various peer-reviewed publications. The book The Corporate Social Mind is collaboration with Derrick Feldmann and brings together the two authors experiences with working with companies on their social engagement and purpose driven efforts.

As managing director of Wider Sense, based in Berlin, Michael leads the advisory work of Wider Sense concerning philanthropy, CSR, and impact investing. In addition to his consulting activities, Michael works as an organizational developer, facilitator, mediator, and coach.

Before joining Wider Sense, Alberg-Seberich worked in various senior positions at Active Philanthropy and the Bertelsmann Foundation. At the latter, he was project manager in the field of democracy, human rights, and tolerance education, and led projects on federalism reform and strategy development in politics. He managed and directed the 2007 Carl Bertelsmann Prize, "Social Commitment as an Educational Objective."
