Growing up in and around retail, Travis was taught every aspect of how to run a retail store from his father. His father was taught every aspect of how to run a retail store from none other than Sam Walton himself (founder of Wal-mart) before Wal-mart ever existed.

After more than 20 years of owning and operating his own retail stores, Travis' father was forced to close his stores because Wal-mart had built stores in the same towns where his stores were located. Searching for consultants and companies that could help him with the process, he ended up choosing the least costly option, and that ended up being his most costly mistake because he was left with tons of inventory and fixtures - and he also lost a lot of money.
