Dr. Kristen Kugelman is an educator and a life-long learner. Currently, her professional work in the field of education focuses on organizational learning and development in the governmental sector. In addition, she teaches educational leadership at the Rutgers University Graduate School of Education as an adjunct professor. In the past 30 years, Kristen’s professional endeavors have also included professional development, curriculum design, school-based service learning programs and elementary education.
Kristen’s experience is that education does not just happen within the walls of formal institutions. Learning opportunities are everywhere. In fact, she believes that her most important life lessons, which have allowed her to tap into her authentic nature, emerged by leaning into the organic flow of life itself. As an educator, Kristen values both traditional and non-traditional learning paths.
The Hound Dog book series now includes How a Hound Dog Heals (2020), How a Hound Dog Learns (2021), and How a Hound Dog Helps (2022). Bringing this series to life was an intensely personal learning experience that emerged out of her love for her rescue dog, Callie. Helping Callie to feel secure and loved has not only been a learning adventure, but a healing process for them both.
Kristen has always enjoyed writing. However, the thought of actually becoming an author seemed like something out of reach. It was the awe she experienced as she observed Callie grow and Kristen's desire to share a story of resilience and hope with others that gave her the courage to face the challenge and fulfill a dream. Now, as an author, Kristen is excited to have acquired another tool to help her teach and learn. She is thrilled to be able to share about her life with Callie and the message of love, courage, and kindness.
Kristen lives in New Jersey with Callie, the American Foxhound.
