John Longbottom

The author John Longbottom, originally from England, has spent most of his life as a musician, songwriter, performer and entertainer playing with a variety of bands and spending the last twenty-five years of his career as a successful solo performer touring in Europe and the East Coast of the USA. His somewhat irreverent sense of humor, which is reflected both in his performances and his writing, is born of these life experiences. Now retired and living in North Carolina, the author was looking forward to a quiet dotage when this muse came knocking on his door demanding to be heard and having spent a life time dancing with his muse John has learned that when she comes calling, you’d better open the door.

I did open the door and more came out than I expected, not only this book but a new song as well. This can be found on YouTube. The area of North Carolina in which I live is a very magical one where I find a very special creative energy and I know I'm not the only one to feel this way. Just look at who lives and has lived here: Carl Sandburg, Thomas Wolfe and Charles Frazier (Cold Mountain), to name just a few.

I thought I was done with music but it keeps coming back stronger than ever. Today, when inspiration strikes, I'm in the exciting position of not knowing whether it will be a song, a poem or the start of something lengthier. What a ride!

Here's what one happy reader had to say: ""... I read this afternoon...it was great! I am still reeling over your imagination and how you translated that into such a good story—felt

like I got to know the characters so well in just a few pages! Congrats! Great job! I am ready for another one—get busy!" Geri L. Atlanta, GA.
