Marina Lando, MS, Reiki Master Teacher, Aromatherapist, published author.
For as long as she can remember, Marina has been passionate about making people well. She was first introduced to natural healing by her grandmother at about the age of 7. Marina’s grandmother would take her to a forest or a meadow near her home and show her what to collect, how to find plants, how they smelled and felt, and how to use them. The family cupboard always smelled of dried flowers, and Linden tea is still Marina’s first choice for a fever. When Marina had any pain, her grandmother would put her hand over Marina’s body and the heat of her hands would soothe away the discomfort. Nobody called it Reiki, Medical Qi Gong or any other exotic name. Marina just knew that her grandma was magic and she wanted to be like her.
Marina started writing fiction and poetry when she was 12. She wanted to become a writer but was denied admission to Kiev State University by the Soviet government because her family considered unreliable and freethinkers. Circumstances lead Marina to earn Masters Degrees in both Computer Science and Economics. Later in life she learned Reiki, Ayurveda and Aromatherapy professionally. She started her healing practice Harmony Life (www.surchange.com) in 2007. Marina continues to study and expand her knowledge as there is always so much more to learn. Marina received her training in Ukraine, USA and India.
She immigrated to the United States in 1993 and never considered to write again. “I thought it will be difficult to master English language to the levels when I can express the poetry of words freely”. Never say never. In 2015 Marina published her first book in the holistic field.
After her husband’s untimely death Marina had too much free time on her hands. She published her first short novel “The Hilarities of Widowhood” in 2020 in the middle of COVID-19 lockdown. She is working on her second novel.
Marina lives in Cary, North Carolina. She is a martial artist and an avid knitter.
