Chris Daly

Chris Daly has been a sales executive, a pre-sales systems/sales engineer, a post sales technical consultant, or leading these technical contributors for over ninety five percent of a career in sales and value delivery spanning 40 years. He understands effective sales, technical, and delivery engagement strategies across all business segments. More importantly, Chris, with an early interest in helping people exceed their beliefs in themselves, understands the potential that can be released in technical and sales professionals that can produce substantial and sustainable results with customers and partners. Concurrent with a portion of his sales career, Chris also had a successful career in the public sector as an elected municipal mayor and chairman of regional and state level organizations in the United States. This unique experience strengthened his skills on managing horizontally – driving collaborative performance with cross functions, partners, community members and customers that are outside traditional management stacks.

Following advanced degree work in Engineering and Applied Mathematics at Columbia University in New York, Chris gained systems skills as a consultant in the financial services and energy industries and as a nsystems/sales engineer focused on very large U.S. Federal Civil and Defense projects as part of TRW’s Systems Integration Group (now, Northrup Grumman). After extending these technologies to commercial clients, he began a long career with ISV’s, leading pre and post sales teams. On his first assignment with Informix Software (now IBM), Chris led a cross functional team of sales, SE’s, Consultants, and premium support professionals all dedicated to a marquee account that contributed 20% of Informix’ global bookings. His success with this account grew to his technical leadership of a verticals LOB and international assignments in Europe and Korea. Chris led and grew the Western US Consulting team for Informix Software, led and grew the Western US professional services team for VERITAS Software, and led and grew the West US pre sales SE team for Symantec Inc. He and his teams were consistently over goal in these assignments. Most importantly, individual contributors on his team were most frequently honored as contributors of the year, and his managers most sought out for promotion.

He also lead the pre/post Technical Sales Organization across 17 countries for Symantec’s Asia, Pacific and Japan region. Chris brought development, reward, and recognition to this diverse team of Pre Sales Technical Systems Engineers, Post Sales Consultants, Sales Executives for Systems Integrators and Channel teams, and the professionals that manage them. Chris brought to his Asia assignment his consistent history of overachieving financial goals, strong strategy development and situational leadership and problem-solving, and seeing his leaders and Individual contributors promoted to higher and higher positions of responsibilities. Chris remains a coach and mentor to many that he has worked with through the years; and is fortunate to have coaches and mentors himself.

These days, Chris has been bringing the value of his experiences to ISV/IHV startups, established in vendors refining their strategies, and to strengthening the outcomes customers achieve with a closer collaboration with the technical sales and services colleagues.
