Lisa Donovan

Lisa Donovan is very good at looking out the window at birds. The more she looked in her backyard, the more she appreciated the personalities of each winged visitor: robins, hummingbirds, cardinals, bluebirds, woodpeckers, goldfinches—even the hawk that visited once a day and all those noisy blue jays! So she wrote the charming children’s book BIRDS IN MY BACKYARD in 2019.

BIRDS AT THE BEACH AND BEYOND, published in 2023, proves that she also enjoys looking at birds at the beach, in marshes, on ponds, and by lagoons. This second book also charms children with beautiful collage illustrations and whimsical verses about each bird.

Lisa grew up in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Grove City College. She earned an M.A. in Professional Writing from Carnegie Mellon University. After working in communications for various companies and clients, she volunteers and looks out the window.
