Daniel Medina

Rev. Dr. Daniel Medina was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Miami, Florida. A graduate of Florida International University, Daniel went on to serve in the U.S. Military Intelligence. He holds graduate degrees from the University of Oklahoma and St. Thomas University (Florida Center for Theological Studies), Miami Gardens, FL, where he earned his doctorate with distinction. He is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Media Arts.

As an artist, musician, poet, and professor at Miami Dade College, Daniel explores faith, art, and mindfulness through his teaching and creative work. His research and lectures span theology, spirituality, and world religions. He practices meditation and Tai Chi and has an InterSpiritual Direction practice. His partner, Anay, is an Ayurvedic practitioner and director of an Ayurvedic college in South Florida. Daniel’s son, Elias, is a professional oboist.

His favorite, Saudade, captures the deep, living nostalgia that infuses his art and writing—a bridge between memory, matter, and meaning.

Daniel is the Rector of Grace Lutheran Church in Miami Springs, and the founder of the experimental jazz, electronica, and ambient ensemble ATOMIC THEATRE.
