Shelby Carr

Shelby graduated from the University of Colorado with her Master of Arts in American history with a minor in public history and a certificate in historic preservation with high distinction. She also received her Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in history from the same institution. As an undergraduate, Shelby worked as an intern for History Colorado in their school programs division and for National History Day in Colorado as a mentor and competition judge. During her graduate studies, she has interned writing speeches for former Colorado Governor Hickenlooper at the Colorado State Capitol, assisted in various museum operations at Byers-Evans House Museum, and in communications and marketing as well as the archival department at History Colorado Center. She also had the wonderful opportunity to present her research on the restoration and preservation of the Colorado State Capitol at Colorado Preservation Inc.’s 2018 Saving Places Conference and on the Crawford Hill Mansion at the 2019 conference. Shelby has her genealogical research certificate from Boston University and a certificate in antiques, collectibles, and appraising from Asheford Institute of Antiques. This past summer, Shelby worked as an AmeriCorps Vista summer associate at the Center for Colorado Women's History at the Byers-Evans House Museum. Currently, she consults on a collaborative effort between the Molly Brown House Museum and the Center for Colorado Women's History on a programming series that delves into the myths of women in the West while also working for Discover Denver as a building research intern researching historic homes throughout the Mile High City.

Shelby is also a professional dancer and has performed all over the world including the U.K., Brazil, Japan, India, China, and Mexico. She's volunteered at the Children's Hospital as a "princess" entertainer as well as performed in local benefits for non-profit organizations in Colorado. Presently, she dances for the MLL Champion Denver Outlaws.
