Eddie combines travel with his love for photography, skiing ,scuba diving, sailing, cycling and spending time with his family.

Eddie feels so grateful to be alive. If his father had not been so lucky and resilient to defeat death during the war, Eddie and his family would not be here to tell the tale.

Eddies Thoughts;

The hardest part of writing a book is starting the story. The very first line was written many times over. I kept checking the word count as I progressed and spent hours trying to write down the bare bones of the book, gathering the facts and remembering the amazing tales we had been told as young children. After the death of our mother, Marisa, my father and I spent hours talking about the past, but it was never in any specific order of events. This book has helped me to put everything into a sequence of when it happened and has helped me see the whole picture of Czesław’s and Marisa’s life.

I have never written a book before, but I used to enjoy writing essays and a couple of poems, which were read out to the class by the teacher while at St. Bede’s Grammar School in Heaton, Bradford.

I love to say I went to ‘eaton!

I have read books by author Andy McNab. He writes in such an honest way, pouring his feelings, positive and negative onto the pages. This inspired me to try and write myself and also to jump out of an aeroplane.

This gift from my dear father, the story of his life, entwined with the stories of so many other people of that time, needed to be recorded somehow. I could not let the stories die with me.
