Robert T. Chambers

Born on the Gaspé coast of Province Québec, Robert Tully Chambers grew up in Québec City. He graduated M.D. from Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario, Canada which included a surgical rotation in Copenhagen, Denmark. He also completed a Master of Science (Experimental Surgery) at McGill University in Montréal. His surgical residency was at the Montréal General Hospital and University of Colorado Hospitals in Denver. He began a private practice of surgery in Prince George, British Columbia, immigrating to Joliet, Illinois in 1978 and becoming a citizen of the United States of America on January 17, 1984, in Chicago, Illinois. He continued to practice surgery at Saint Joseph Medical Center and Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet and became the Chief of Surgery at Saint Joseph Medical Center. In 1995, he was recruited by MeritCare Health Systems, Fargo, North Dakota to be their surgeon in Wahpeton, N.D. He was Chairman of the Surgery Committee of the North Central Cancer Treatment Group, Rochester, MN, and an Advanced Trauma Life Support instructor for the American College of Surgeons. Retiring from clinical practice in August of 2005, he undertook a new career teaching courses in Microbiology and in Pathology at the North Dakota State College of Science on the Wahpeton campus. In June of 2008, he left North Dakota State College of Science to be Rotary International’s District Governor for District 5580 for the 2008-09 fiscal year.

Dr. Chambers is married to Marilyn Mary Chambers who is employed at Brushvale Seed. He has three children and three granddaughters all residing in the Chicago area; a daughter and a granddaughter residing in Orange County, California as well as two stepsons and five step grand-children all residing in Massachusetts.

In December 2009, Dr. Chambers failed retirement for the third time returning to the North Dakota State College of Science, this time to the Fargo campus at the Nanoscience Technology Training Center developing a course on Nanotoxicity. Administrative changes set this project aside. In 2012 he began to build his woodworking shop. His fourth failure at retirement.

Throughout much of his life, Dr. Chambers has written both technical material and for fun. He has both clinical and research papers published. Friends urged him to take the “for fun” writing seriously which he finally did. “Hidden Wounds” was started in 2015 after most of the beta readers indicated thumbs down on a prior project. This was his fifth failure at retirement as several other fiction writing projects are in the pipeline. "Kimberly" is his second strong woman novel. As his family is populated with strong women, at least as far back as the Isle of Skye in the 19th century, it is no surprise that he writes about strong women warriors.
