Stephen Porter

Stephen Porter spent over twenty years working with special needs kids in the public education system. It was a time full of rewards, challenges and the realization that the education system as it stands, was not helping our kids come to a sense of self-awareness. Rather, it was just encouraging them to stay in the same paradigm of life which modern society has always held.

Stephen stresses the need to teach the "whole child" and to shift our approach to education away from solely academics and also focus on fostering free thinking and self-realization. Teaching in the Spirit is available on Amazon in ebook and hard cover.

Prior to his teaching career, Stephen was a producer in talk radio, during which time he wrote, directed and produced a documentary examining what motivates children to leave their home and live on the street.

His second book is a collection of short stories ranging from science fiction, to horror, noir and dark humour. It is called the "Quick and the Quirky" and is available in ebook or hard copy here on Amazon.

Stephen's newest book, Just Write Already, is a valuable companion for any would be writer who has not yet taken the step of putting their words and ideas down on paper, or metaphorical paper as the case may be. Filled with anecdotes and advice based on his own, and colleague's experiences it can alleviate the hesitancy and fears, and encourage people to take the big leap and as the title says, Just Write. It also includes hints on taking ideas and reworking them to complete that first story or other piece of work. Stephen also walks the neophyte through the publication and promotions path.
