Maria Mitchell

Maria continues to be an advocate for widows, providing a voice and presence in society inclusive of the church, education and the community. She is passionate about dispelling and challenging myths and shedding the stigma surrounding death, bereavement and grief. She has spoken on Premier Christian Radio and at the Radiant City Church, London, where she continues to authentically and passionately share the intimate parts of her journey as a young widow.

Audacious and unapologetic in her stance and approach, Maria believes her journey through widowhood — inclusive of the challenges and trials — has resulted in an unexpected and distinctive beauty, greater awareness and appreciation of self as well as a greater resilience.

She truly believes and stands by the motto: what the caterpillar perceives as the end, to the butterfly, is just the beginning. She believes that life can come after death, that death does not need to be the end, but a redirection and invitation to embark on a different course and a beautiful beginning.

Maria's hobbies include travelling, outdoor adventurous activities, kayaking, films, food tasting, and serving the community.
