Gareth Thomas

Gareth Thomas (1993-Present) is a Welsh historian and author who co-founded the sport's history website 'The Football History Boys' (https://www.thefootballhistoryboys.com/), in 2013 with Ben Jones whilst at Swansea University. The website was award 'Best New Blog' at the Football Blogging Awards in 2014 and was nominated for 'Best Established Blog' in 2019.

Both Gareth Thomas and Ben Jones are teachers in a secondary and primary school respectively, and have a passion for sharing their love of the history of sport with their students. Their first book, Football's 50 Most Important Moments, was published in 2020 and takes an in-depth look at the beautiful game from 1857-Present day. This was followed by their second title, The History of Football in 90 Minutes: (Plus Extra-Time), published in 2021, which looked at a moment for each minute of the game's history.
