My career as a teacher began in the cracks, working with students never afforded the luxuries I was. Channeling my own history of living with mental illness and the turmoil that comes with it, I used my pain to empathize and identify with my students and their own scars. My first book: Evolution of an Educator is about my transformation from wounded child to determined teacher. 39 years in the making, it has all the lessons I learned working with the disenfranchised outside the system.
The last 15 years I've been employed as both a resource and structured learning teacher in one of the largest school districts in Illinois. Teaching at a local intermediate school, I live in Lake county with my beautiful wife, 4 children, 2 in-laws, and 2 awful dogs.
