Tēnā koutou - Greetings everyone
Whiona Moverley is an early childhood teacher in Auckland, New Zealand. She studied trombone at the Royal Academy of Music in London in the early 1990s and never imagined, nearly 30 years later, she would be releasing a series of children’s picture books! She is in awe of the amazing illustrating skills of Don Hatcher and enjoys working with him on the Stanley Cat series and other books.
From an early age, she had the desire to write books after the visit of an author to her kindergarten when she was just three years old. She harbours many such dreams as a result of her amazing parents, incredible NZ education, the inspiring teachers she has encountered and awesome people (including "the little people") she has worked with in her life. She enjoys writing books for young children and hopes they encourage them to chase their dreams too.
Whiona is a Trustee of a marae in South Auckland, New Zealand - please consider supporting this very worthy charity: https://givealittle.co.nz/org/papatuanuku-kokiri-marae
She is learning te reo Māori (the Māori language) - one of the official languages of New Zealand and is an incredibly proud Kiwi.
Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou! - Thank you very much!
