Janet won her first writing competition at the age of nine, writing for the magazine School Friend. Always interested in writing, Janet studied Advanced Creative writing and graduated with a B.A. (Hons) degree in English Literature.
A former Editor of South Poetry Magazine, published in Dorset, she has also developed and run many poetry workshops in Devon, Somerset and Dorset.
Janet is a published poet and a number of her poems in her collection 'Hidden not Lost' have been previously published, as referenced in the acknowledgements. The collection is a mix of the anecdotal and philosophical, often relating to that which we think has been lost. Janet has said, "my poetry is intended to be easily accessible, ordinary, whilst at the same time using imagery and figurative language to convey the deeper meaning".
Janet enjoys travelling, Malta being a favourite destination, for regular meetings with friends there and to take advantage of writing opportunities. She has two daughters and five grandchildren. Her favoured writers include, T.S. Eliot, William Carlos Williams, Charlotte Bronte and Virginia Woolf
