Nat Damon is an American writer living in London, England. Nat was born and raised in Boston, MA and works as an educator and writer of fiction and non-fiction. Examples of Nat's education-focused writing can be found in Education Week, The 74 Million, Goop, and in his book "Time to Teach: Time to Reach - Expert Teachers Give Voice to the Power of Relational Teaching" (Relational Schools Foundation, Cambridge, UK 2018).
Currently, Nat is the Executive Director of Reach Academics (www.reachacademics.com) and host of the podcast, "Reach. Teach. Talk", which focuses on the centrality of relationships in the classroom..."and the classroom of life". Available on iTunes and Spotify.
"True Colors in My Ordinary World" is Nat's first published work of fiction. Its premise is about the value of relationships in family and community. Its protagonist, Claire Thompson, is a young adult living with a cognitive disability...and she is based on Nat's sister. Growing up with a sister with special needs gave Nat insight on the vibrancy of her inner world, and his goal in writing this book was to give it an external voice. Readers will find Claire's voice to be uniquely clear, perceptive and witty.
As an English teacher for over a decade, Nat believes that great literature can change hearts and minds. Some of his favorite books taught are: "The Sun Also Rises", "To Kill a Mockingbird", "The Odyssey" and "Tender is the Night". Elements from each inform his writing.
When not at his desk or working with educators on strengthening their relationships with students, colleagues and parents, Nat can be found hiking the Green Mountains of Vermont or sailing Nantucket Sound.
