John du Prey

Grew up in Little Norway, South Dakota, surrounded by men and women who spoke Norwegian, Swedish, Dutch, and Danish. Worked on a farm, herded cattle and sheep, hauled bails for a neighbor farmer with four daughters, and sold cookware sets to future brides. Joined U.S. Air Force in my teens. Served four years on a war base in Northern Japan. Trained with Special Forces operatives coming out of combat, when training was offered.

Studied Latin, German, French, Spanish, so on; read the Unabridged Oxford Dictionary from cover to cover. Honorable discharge. Moved to Hell's Kitchen, NYC; lived there for 18 months in the most violent, depraved, and dangerous piece of turf in North America. Got on at the Copacabana Discotheque in east side Manhattan; very hard work, world class entertainment, and good money. Had hundreds of deadly encounters while in NYC. Had hundreds of death threats. Wrote thirty 'one act' screenplays while isolated in Hell's Kitchen. Wore my cowboy boots; was called the Copa Cowboy. Knew many Don Juan's and Lothario's; worked with them at the Flea Market in Little Italy.

Left Manhattan after a very deadly encounter in the basement of a Times Square movie theater. Finished B.A. and M.A. Degrees at the University of South Dakota. Continued working as a Writer and Multi-Language Editor for hundreds of Fortune 500 and international clients. Became a novelist with My Secret Husband; working with several gifted women writers and editors. Honored to work with the superb teams at Amazon Kindle Publishing and KDP Publishing; as well Nick Caya and his team at Word-2-Kindle.
