Karol Patras

Karol Patras, born September 9, 1958, in Baltimore, Maryland.

I am disabled and I began writing in 2009. That is when I wrote my first Children's Book. I enjoy writing, it relaxes me and takes me to different places in my mind. I was in a "funk" from 2012 until 2020. My Mom, who was my proofreader, and my best friend, passed away. She was the one whom I would call when I didn't know if the word or phrase didn't feel right. She would give me alternatives and we would work it out together. When she left, I didn't think I could do it on my own. My husband, Ray Layton, and his daughter Penny, who is also an author, convinced me to get back into it again. I have a new Children's Book, just about ready to be published and will be out by the end of summer 2020.

I have 2 sons, Matthew and Kollen. Kollen passed away in an automobile accident in 1999, he was 3 weeks shy of his 18th birthday. My son Matthew is married and lives in NC with his wife Melissa and my beautiful Grand Daughter Calendria.

My husband Ray is a Disabled Veteran and he has 2 children, David and Penny. David is a CPA living in CA and Penny lives in the UK with her husband and 3 children. She has a 6 yr old son and a set of twins, girl and boy and they are 4 yrs. old.

I live in Alabama and my husband and I travel a lot to visit the kids and grandkids.
