Audrey Marsh

Born in Napa, Audrey Marsh was raised (mostly) in California, with frequent trips meandering around Old Europe to visit family scattered around France and Croatia. These pilgrimages back to her parents’ homelands opened her mind to different cultures, foods, music and thinking, and she credits her extensive lifelong traveling with giving her an even more important education than the one she acquired getting a PhD at a top university. Her mother, a fabulous natural and intuitive cook, taught her about low-key (i.e., regular people) French cooking and unwittingly turned Audrey into a foodie. Luckily, she now finds herself living in northern California where access to fresh organic produce, artisanal breads, wonderful cheeses, local wines and pasture-raised meat is plentiful and she can indulge her culinary whims. Audrey is a dedicated omnivore that loves vegan food, too, and will taste almost anything. She loves experimenting with flavors to the point where she admits she cannot follow a recipe without tweaking it, and won’t feel bad if you do the same with her own cookbooks (she calls it ‘cooking jazz’). Audrey also actively writes fiction, from short stories to full-length novels (for both adults and teens). She hopes to share her adoration of all things food-related, the natural world, art, ancient history and music (from post-punk to minimalism) with everyone who shares her table. Her life goal is simple: to make the world around her a better, tastier, happier place.
