Dr. Rafael Moras, P.E.
Instilled by my parent's remarkable love for books, I grew up an avid reader of fiction, from Jules Verne to more serious literary works like Don Quijote, which I finished as a high school senior in my native Mexico, only to read it again–and truly savor it–several decades later. Today, I continue to enjoy reading and listening to mystery, drama, suspense, and historical fiction in the English and Spanish languages.
The Internship is my third novel. The first novels are written in Spanish, and an English translation of one of those by my talented daughter and editor, Annie Alegre, is forthcoming. My books are inspired by life experiences and I usually seek the opportunity to include a bit of poetry.
I have written several brief professional ethics case studies and always wanted to write a full novel on that subject. The Internship is inspired by my many years of teaching engineering ethics and the industrial engineering senior design project class at St. Mary's University. I have enjoyed working many generations of students as they face real-life decision making while they complete the all-important capstone course in conjunction with challenging internships sponsored by local industry.
Aside from my literary endeavors, I am also passionate about music. One of the brothers at the La Salle Elementary School in my home town talked my father into buying an accordion for me when I was a second grader. I still enjoy playing classical accordion and piano. My love of writing extends to music: I have authored four musical plays, some of which have been presented in San Antonio and in my native Cordoba, Mexico.
I live in San Antonio, TX, happily married to my wife, the very talented impressionist painter Gladys Roldan de Moras.
