EU.

Sara Messias Souza.

SARA MESSIAS.

I.

Sara Messias Souza.

Woman, mother, black, Brazilian and Bahian.

Born in December 1981, twin of Simone. I grew up in the neighborhood of Garcia, in the city of São Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. I studied at pre-school Batista, I attended elementary school at 25 de Agosto School, the gym at Hildete Lomanto School. My high school was divided between the Edgar Santos Educational Center and the Odorico Tavares Educational Center. At CEFET-BA, today IFBA - Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Bahia, I graduated in Tourism.

My father worked in the metallurgic industry and my mother works as a maid. My sister Simone and I grew up under the tutelage of our grandfather Valdete (or Babi, as he likes to be called) and our late grandmother, Dona Agmar. The passion for reading was passed on by my grandfather Babi and encouraged by my grandmother. Together, we read classic books and watched old movies.

I always had a sincere and natural love for reading and especially writing. One of my skills has always been to try to give life and joy to formal and very rational texts, even laws and norms, turning them into texts with interesting characters.

The books made me know the world, but not enough about the trajectory of my ancestors, about the formation of my country and, mainly, about the disastrous events that marked with blood the world history, the biggest crime against humanity: the African Holocaust.

The curiosity and desire to discover more about the formation of Brazil took me on a journey through time, making me fall even more in love with the history of my people. A people marked by diversity, cultural richness and the mixture that is the fruit of the intersection (above all, forced) between indigenous, black and European. These human groups have influenced and have been influenced around them.

I began to write and decided to tell a story that would also rescue the history of the formation of the Brazilian people. In a few days, I will release my first book and I look forward to share with you a work full of courage, struggle and black pride.

I invite you, dear readers, to travel through time with me, through my characters, learning from the past and being responsible for the present.

I embrace you,

SARA MESSIAS.
