Sergio Ochoa Meraz

Sergio Ochoa Meraz (Chihuahua, Mexico, 1974) is a Mexican writer whose work spans narrative fiction, short stories, and poetry. He began his literary career in the mid‑1990s, publishing short pieces on the Ficticia platform, a space that marked his early literary explorations and the development of a voice interested in portraying everyday life through a symbolic and reflective lens.

In 2019, he published his first novel, Minotaur: Crime or Sacrifice?, a work that later received an edition supported by the Autonomous University of Chihuahua through its editorial board. The novel belongs to the tradition of Latin American noir fiction and weaves a narrative of dark atmospheres, complex characters, and philosophical reflections on morality, guilt, and conscience. This work has been translated and published in English, Italian, Russian, Portuguese, and Japanese, expanding its international circulation.

In addition to his novel, Ochoa Meraz has developed a sustained body of work in short fiction and poetry. His books include Vaivén: Short Stories, Essays, and Brief Narratives (1994–1997), The Demons Never Left, The Demons Will Never Go Away, and In Broad Daylight—the latter three forming part of the Mis Demonios series—as well as the poetry collection Twelve Years of Silence, Please Read Aloud. Throughout these texts, the author consistently explores human fragility, the presence of evil, memory, and individual responsibility, employing direct language and concise narrative structures.

The work of Sergio Ochoa Meraz is characterized by a style that privileges clarity and intensity, as well as by a persistent interest in the ethical dimension of his characters and their decisions. His literary production, published in both print and digital formats, is available on international platforms and has been recorded in editorial, bibliographic, and contemporary authors’ catalogs.
