"The Lord says, 'Don't let the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, don't let the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glories glory in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight,' says the Lord" (Jeremiah 9:23-24).
I'm just a regular Christian dude that isn't very mighty or rich. I have a share of wisdom from the Lord. But I do know Him pretty dang well, and that's what I glory in!
I have learned over a number of decades how to "trust in the Lord with all my heart, and lean not on my own understanding" (Proverbs 3.5). I wrote "UNworried" to help others who struggle with anxiety and fear, and show them how they can develop a greater trusting relationship with Jesus. I also have learned how to acknowledge Him in all my ways so that He can direct my paths (Proverbs 3:6). I'm writing "UNdoubted" as a practical guide to help Christians make confident decisions with the Lord and enjoy His peace as they walk with Him.
I grew up in a loving, Christian home, the seventh of nine children. At 44 years-old I now have an amazing wife and four beautiful children. We're doing our best to teach our kids just how much God loves them and about the wonderful relationship they can have with Jesus. It's a real struggle sometimes. I struggled with anxiety as I grew up from grade school all the way into my thirties. I'm thankful for my anxiety now because it brought me so close to the Lord.
Although I now really enjoy my family's involvement with our home church, I grew up in an anti-religious Christian home. What the heck does "anti-religious Christian" mean? Basically, I read my bible, attended bible studies in my parent's basement, and learned about Jesus and how much He loves me, without any of what I would have called "churchy" obligations or pressures. My anti-religious background has helped me see all the things about Christianity that aren't very "tasty." Christians are supposed to be "savory," however, a lot of Christianity looks and feels boring and bland to others. Part of my mission is to push Christians to understand what being "savory" looks like, and to become "tasty" to others. It's all about humility, vulnerability, love and having a freakin' sense of humor!
Honestly, beyond that, there's not a whole lot more about me that's worth knowing. I love Jesus and He loves me. I know Him well, and He knows me completely ... and He still loves me!! I say there's not much more worth knowing because everything else simply pales in comparison with my relationship with Christ. If that sounds enticing to you then hopefully you'll check out my books and blogs, and draw closer to our great God too!
