Nalin DeSilva

Nalin DeSilva is an artist and author who lives in Los Angeles with his wife, two daughters and an obnoxious boxer named Jonesy. He grew up in Sri Lanka, Papua New Guinea and Australia, reading stories by Hergè, Robert Ervin Howard, Frank Herbert and others. He spent a lot of his childhood drawing and painting, and exploring the rainforests of Papua New Guinea.

Soon after the birth of his eldest daughter, he developed the character of Agnes the Adventurer, a young girl who befriends a huge dragon. On developing the character of Agnes, he said, “I wanted Agnes the Adventurer to be a symbol for children everywhere. That they can be tough, brave and independent, yet at the same time, be compassionate and have a deep, abiding love

and respect for animals and the Earth.”
