Larry Laverty is an actor, writer, photographer, and mountain climber. Following a 30-year career as a Hollywood actor, he dedicated his life to wildlife conservation. Given a camera for Christmas by his parents at age 5, and writing published works since days as a columnist for his middle school newspaper, he now applies both skills to share information about the lives of wildlife, with the hope that human beings will treat animals better. He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, Actors Equity Association, the National Eagle Scout Association, the American Alpine Club, The Wildlife Society, Voices for Asian Elephants, and the exclusive Explorers Club. His third book, on the buffalo of Yellowstone Park, will be published this August, 2026, and he is currently at work on a fourth book, about the lives of donkeys around the world.
