Lorraine Rose

Lorraine Rose grew up in New York state and initially led a rather conventional life as wife, mother, and grandmother for many years. This changed dramatically when Lorraine reached her late 40’s.

Lorraine reinvented herself when she received a B.A. degree as an adult and began freelance writing, which included developing a column for a women’s magazine. When almost 60, she drove, alone, 1800 miles from her home in upstate New York to rent an apartment, sight unseen, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she wrote feature stories for the city newspaper, The New Mexican.

Over the years Lorraine has parasailed, gone up in balloons and gliders and jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. She taught English in Warsaw, Poland, for three years, although she isn’t Polish and wasn’t a teacher. Her adventures also include traveling around the United States, Canada, and Mexico in a 5th wheel for a few years. Her books include insightful, witty and revealing stories of her real-life travels, family, and adventures.

Now in her eighties (though you’d never believe it if you saw her fleeting around, telling jokes, playing the piano, and singing at every holiday event), Lorraine currently lives in San Diego, California, where she continues her writing.

She has two books (with multiple editions) currently published by Manor Publishing and a third on the way revealing family foibles, fun and more in the next month or so. (This biography submitted May 7, 2020)

The important thing about Manor Publishing Collective (MPC) is that 1. Every author is over 65, with an average age of 80+. 2. The authors share a portion of their royalties with the other MPC authors, so even if a book doesn't sell, the author gets something at royalty time. Given that these authors mostly have limited incomes, even a little extra is a lot. 3. Some of the authors' works are good and some are absolutely brilliant---but all of these MPC authors had these stories in their files cabinets or kitchen drawers and dreamed of being published, but didn't have experience to use traditional publishers, or didn't have funds to use vanity presses and/or didn't have computer skills to create eBooks. 4. Every one of the authors has something of historical significance to offer. Given the average age of MPC authors, these viewpoints and stories would have been lost to history if MPC-hadn't emerged to publish these books for the seniors at no initial charge. (The authors pay 25% of their net royalties to MPC, that's it.)

Our mission at MPC--Get these authors published before they are no longer around to share their experiences and talent with the world. For example, Glenn Flenniken is one of the last surviving members of a generation that serviced in WWII and the Korean War. At the age of 96, he offers stories and narrative poetry that truly describe the life and times and warships he was involved with. History buffs need to peruse these Manor Publishing Collective books because these unique perspectives (stories, humor, memorabilia, and insights) would otherwise be not only lost but unexplored and unknown.

Do yourself a favor: Enjoy these Manor Publishing Collective books. (Search on Manor Publishing Collective on Amazon and you'll see them all.)
