Elaine Patterson

I have always loved learning, reading and writing! My interests are very eclectic - and I am very drawn to the arts, comedy, film, libraries, nature, sculpture and theatre for beauty, insight, inspiration and solace. I am a keen Nordic Walker and Kayaker and live in London and the Lake District

I love finding the extraordinary in the different and ordinary!

I believe that our creativity sits at the heart of our humanity, - and that we find the freedom to be ourselves - with elegance, grace and wisdom - through our creativity. Creativity can bring hope and meaning to our lives, helping us to reshape the old or bring the new into existence.

I chose the dance figure and posture on the front cover of my book because I felt it captured the essence of my philosophy and approach. For me, the figure represents dance step 6 in my book, which is called “Finding Freedom”. For me, “Finding Freedom” sits at the centre of the choreography of creative reflection and is our never-ending quest to be our creative selves in our lives and in our work. Creativity is WHO we are. And WHO we are shapes HOW and WHAT we create!

I have been very lucky to meet and work with many amazing people across the world who want to bring their innate creativity to their lives and their work - to be the difference which makes the difference in their own ways in their own worlds. And this book is for them and to hopefully show others what is possible.

Karyn Prentice and I are bringing our love of creativity to a new Diploma called “Cultivating and Choreographing the Rich Tapestry of Whole Hearted Creativity - A 12 month Virtual Programme to re-Source You and re-Vitalise Your Practice” starting November 2020! Do join us!
