Lindsay Boyer is a contemplative teacher with a passion for using simple, inclusive language and online technology to make contemplative prayer accessible to everyone. She has been leading contemplative prayer online for eight years and has been a leader in helping groups come online during the pandemic. She’s an adjunct professor at General Theological Seminary, where she teaches on digital spiritual practice and creative contemplative group leadership, and a leader of retreats and workshops on contemplative prayer.
She was raised as an Episcopalian, and Christianity still forms the core of her faith. She has also learned an enormous amount by exploring the practices of other traditions, in particular the meditation of Zen Buddhism, the worship and yoga of Hinduism, and the qigong energy work of Taoism. These practices have helped her to better understand and explore the contemplative traditions of Christianity, which have been neglected for centuries in the west but which are now being rediscovered in forms such as centering prayer and lectio divina.
In previous careers she worked as a market researcher and jewelry designer. She lives in Brooklyn, New York and tries to dance every day, which she feels has a deep connection with her contemplative practice. She can be reached at her website Spirituality for Questioning Minds.
