Mrs. Laura E Coleman

Laura Coleman is a passionate, international teacher. As a young woman, born and raised in a relatively small city in the deep south, she was a voracious reader. Unfortunately, there weren’t many available books that she could see herself in or relate to on a deep and personal level. Because of this she feels as if she was limited by what she did not know was possible. She didn’t dream big enough and did not aim for stars high enough. This has fueled her passion to create more books for diverse readers so that they can see themselves be great. Representation truly does matter.

With a bachelor's degree in history and secondary education from the University of South Alabama, Laura and her family currently live in Kuwait where she teaches. She and her family have had the privilege to travel and see many places she never even dreamed of. This is what she loves about the expat experience the most and this is what she aims to portray in her books. Black children do travel abroad, they learn different languages, and experience other cultures. The goal is to expose all children to these possibilities.
