Pete Black Jr

Pete Black hails from Monroeville, Alabama, home of literary icons Harper Lee, Truman Capote and Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Cynthia Tucker. He is a civil engineering graduate from the University of Alabama who is retired after a 35-year career in the pulp and paper industry.

Pete writes 700-word non-fiction short stories about ordinary people who have overcome obstacles to accomplish extraordinary things. In 2011, he self-published, Heart Matters - Never Lose Heart, a collection of 75 inspirational stories, poems and quotes.

Pete has written a weekly column, Heart Matters, in the Monroe Journal since 2012.

His short stories have been published in the GreyThoughts Writer’s Club and Spillwords Publishing. In 2020, he was a participant in the 15 Minutes of Fame program at the Monroeville Literary Festival.
