Cynthia Long never intended writing a book but as the years accrued and several nudges from others during those years, she received many confirmations and comments. “You got to write about this!” And then...“This story must be shared!” As destiny would have it, she chronicled her story, taking her countless years, numerous scraps of paper, journal entries, friends reminiscing, her own remembrances, Gerties (Cynthia's angel) angelic communications in dreams and real-life occurrences on and on-it didn’t end. Even when she was quite ill, she slowly continued on. Two books developed from the years of gathering. Gertie and The Red Gown.
Cynthia became interested in healing ever since her first meeting with Gertie. She now feels, Gertie led her down that path. Cynthia never intended publishing a book about Gertie, as the story is in The Red Gown but she’s now realizing, Gertie’s story more valuable than ever!
About 23 years ago, Cynthia started researching and heard/read about healers in the Philippines. She was beginning to plan a trip there but for some reason Cynthia was pulled away from the Philippines and steered towards Brazil. Her research, inquiry and a dream led her to her grandfather’s family’s home country-Brazil. Absolutely everything came together. As soon as she landed in Brazil, she felt she was home. A sign she felt Brazil was the place she needed to be. All of her experiences in Brazil were life changing. Much wasn’t just about healing. Though, while there, she learned ancient healing practices were a part of Brazil’s rich heritage and later, many other countries in the world. The Red Gown highlights the first visit to Brazil. Most of the adventure is about a needle in a haystack fated relationship that brought Cynthia’s life to the next level of growth.
Her second journey to Brazil was approx. 12 years ago. The healing community town had changed quite a bit. Cynthia couldn’t place her finger on all of it, but just recently, it made more sense. Thankfully, she was able to travel to various healing centers in Brazil, during the last visit and witnessed different healing practices. Although she didn’t feel comfortable with some methods, Cynthia’s appreciative she was able to witness for herself, because she may be writing about them in the future.
Cynthia Long resides in Northern California and is in a developing relationship. She has three adult children and three handsome and talented grandsons.
