Theodore Powers

Theodore Powers holds the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Iowa. He has published widely on the politics of infectious disease, social inequality, and social movements, including his book Sustaining Life: AIDS Activism in South Africa (2020, Penn Press). In addition to his work on HIV/AIDS, Powers has carried out research on austerity, public health, COVID-19, and urban social life in South Africa.
