Richard Stein, aka Jackie Vegas, was raised in the charming town of Fairfield, Connecticut.
His first book, Vegas Goes East, recounts his comedy road trip From Huntington Beach, California back to his hometown of Fairfield and all the many gigs, gaffes and guffaws he encountered along the way.
After twelve years as a comedian, he became a high school teacher for the Alternative/Correctional Division for the Orange County Department of Education in Costa Mesa, California. While no longer a full time road comic, he still managed to use his comedy chops on the at risk yoots, and was able to survive and live to see retirement.
Rich didn't start comedy until he was twenty seven and then started teaching at thirty nine so he was always a late bloomer. He sat on his book journals for all the years he taught, got married and had one daughter. So in late bloomer fashion he published his first book about his tour across the country in an RV at sixty four.
