Dr. John H. Hidley MD

John H. Hidley, M.D. is a psychiatrist and independent scholar, researcher, and science writer.

Doctor Hidley conducted a private practice in psychiatry, was the medical director of one of the first pain treatment centers in the country and co-created (with Tom Krause, Ph.D.) the field of behavior-based safety. Behavioral safety is a leadership and culture-change technology that protects employees from injury, and, when applied in medicine, protects hospitalized patients from medical errors.

For years doctor Hidley has been interested in what consciousness is and what it does for us. He is a lifetime member of the Association for the Scientific Study of Consciousness and has intensively studied the professional literature on consciousness for more than 25 years. He observes that neuroscience lacks a coherent conceptual framework for consciousness.

Attunement: How Life Creates Consciousness provides that needed framework and presents a new theory of consciousness. Visit the book’s website for additional information about consciousness and free resources that augment the book.
