Brian I. Crother

Brian Crother was born in Urbana, IL and soon after moved to Los Angeles where he lived for 27 years. He received a BS from CSU Dominguez Hills and earned the PhD in Biology at the University of Miami, FL. He conducted post-doctoral research at the University of Texas at Austin and has been at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA with his Ph.D. wife, Mary since 1991. At Southeastern he won the President’s Award for Excellence in research and is currently a Schlieder Foundation Professor. He has been reading science fiction since his early teens and has been an active scientist for over 35 years. His main research interests are in evolutionary biology and herpetology, the study of reptiles and amphibians, on which he has a number of publications, including books. He also enjoys philosophy of science, much to the chagrin of some of his friends! On the other hand, he is basically a regular guy that likes beer and sports and Mardi Gras as much as anybody and enjoys taking on challenges such as running half and full marathons. His favorite escape is the family fishing camp seven miles down the bayou, accessible only by boat.
