Anya Plutynski is a professor of philosophy and associate in the division of biological and biomedical sciences at Washington University in St. Louis. Her main interests are in how biologists and biomedical researchers describe and investigate the world. She has authored or co-authored dozens of scholarly articles in philosophy of science, the history of biology, and medicine. Her first book is Explaining Cancer: Finding Order in Disorder (Oxford, 2018). She is also co-editor with Sahotra Sarkar of The Companion to Philosophy of Biology (Wiley, 2008), and co-editor with Justin Garson and Sahotra Sarkar of The Routledge Handbook of Philosophy of Biodiversity (Routledge, 2017).
