Eugene Y. Yang

Eugene Yang is the principal of KISMET Consulting, Inc., a company that his deceased wife, Karen, started in 1994. He has worked nearly 40 years, primarily in the nuclear power industry. He is considered a foremost expert on quality assurance records management and document control programs and the implementation of electronic content management systems.

Eugene has a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a master's degree in industrial engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.

Eugene lives in Plainfield, IL, and has five children and two granddaughters. He is active at Grace Pointe Church of Plainfield. He continues to teach in the children’s ministry, and occasionally hacks with his cello on the worship team. He enjoys staying active: he ran in a marathon and has achieved a 3rd degree black belt in taekwondo. Nowadays, he keeps running and smacks around a pickleball.

Upon the loss of Karen, Eugene joined a Facebook support group for Christian widows and widowers. He found peace in writing about his grief journey, and was encouraged that, in turn, he was providing solace to others. Eugene is a proponent of the safe sharing of grief with others; he initially participated in a GriefShare (www.griefshare.org) group, and thereafter has facilitated several GriefShare groups at his church.
