Lauren Simkin Berke

Lauren Simkin Berke is a lifelong visual artist based in Brooklyn, NY, who works as both an illustrator and as an educator. Though mainly working at drawing, painting, printmaking, and bookbinding, Lauren can often be found teaching, reading, writing, futzing, and pondering. Lauren has illustrated many book covers, book reviews, and created a plethora of artist's books and zines. They are the illustrator of the picture book biography Were I Not A Girl: The Inspiring and True Story of Dr. James Barry, by Lisa Robinson, a Bank Street College Best Children’s Book of the Year Selection in 2021, and is the author and illustrator of Zine Making & Bookbinding: A Beginner's Guide in 25 Projects.
