On 13th August 1961, the people of East Berlin woke to find a 12-foot-high concrete wall had been built across their city, slicing it in two. It included: watchtowers, guard dogs and the horrifying death strip. This led to the indiscriminate separation of families and communities and with no end in sight to this secretive and ruthless regime. Many tried to escape; but the Stasi (secret police) thwarted their plans. This was the most spied on country – EVER!

This is the story of the Meyer family living in East Berlin in from 1961 to the fall of the wall.

Even though the family depicted in this book are fictional, all events and happenings are true.

ACCESS DENIED is my first novel. I chose to write a story about the Berlin Wall because it is recent history. I remember its fall in November 1989. As I started my research, I discovered that not many people knew of its history and that this was something that people would be interested in. I became passionate in wanting to tell the story of life behind the Iron Curtain and the brave people who dared to challenge it for the most precious commodity - THEIR FREEDOM.
