I had never thought of myself as an author but when my mom approached me about writing a book about our journey, I was intrigued! I was born in Texas but have been in beautiful Colorado for most of my life. I graduated college with degrees in Sociology and Psychology and began a long career as an Employment Recruiter. I had always wanted to be a mother as many women do but had fertility issues that put a halt to that path. So, my husband and I decided to adopt a child. We had no idea how difficult it was going to be to raise a child with both intellectual deficits and behavioral issues. My parents have been a huge support system for us throughout the years and have been an integral part of this process. Each story and path of a family is unique but what we all have in common is experiencing some of the same emotions and setbacks in our journeys of raising difficult children. So, we wanted to share our story to say there is always hope!
