Navigating Without a Compass, a collaborative effort with my daughter is my first novel. My life began in Wichita, Kansas and after a long career as a registered nurse and healthcare executive in several states, my husband and I moved back to Denver, Colorado a few years ago to enjoy retirement. Our daughter and her husband had adopted a child from the foster care system and found themselves overwhelmed parenting this little boy with special needs. My nursing career taught me a lot about human behavior and learning how to be creative in solving problems. But I had no idea what a challenge this little boy would present to all of us and soon realized that I had a new career - grandparent! Together we created a village to help us get through each day. Days turned into years and he is now 18. We are encouraged with his progress and wanted to share our story with others who may have just started their journey.
