Aside from being a full-time mother to three beautiful children and wife of twenty-three years to her loving husband, Julie P. Watson is a published author, writer and certified health coach. She is also an ovarian cancer survivor, fear fighter, hope dealer and eternal overcomer! Her testimony can be found in "Made to Overcome: Chronic Illness Edition." While infertility may have been the result of her illness, becoming a mother was still her dream.
Her journey to motherhood would prove to be a long wait, but when it finally did happen, it came in the form of a "complete family package" -- three children at once. A dozen stories from that journey can be found in "Simply Dedicated: Stories And Devotionals From And For Adoptive And Foster Parents." Julie has also chronicled her caregiving experiences in foster care (as well as with other family members), in "Made to Overcome: Caregivers Edition." Finally, she co-authored the book, "I Quit" to give others help, hope, and direction on how to let go of obstacles which hold them back from becoming the best version of themselves. Because of these experiences, and all God has brought her through, Julie is a lifelong advocate for children in the foster care system, subsequent adoption out of foster care, and pro-life issues all around.
For ten years prior to motherhood, Julie served as an Executive Director, Development Director and Grant Writer for inner-city children and pro-life ministries. She wrote and won several grants for these ministries and praises God for His direction in her life. Before ministry, Julie was a Human Resources Generalist for seven years in the corporate world and never misses a moment of her old life. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English with an emphasis in Writing and a minor in Biblical Studies from Biola University. She is a member of the San Diego Kingdom Writer's Association (KWA) and facilitates a semi-monthly KWA Writing Critique Group in East County. In 2018, she created and co-administers the "Mortgage Payoff Challenge" Facebook Group. The group offers encouragement and support to its over 4,000 members desiring to become completely debt free by paying off their home mortgages in record time.
Julie's favorite pastimes, aside from spending time with family, include: playing with her three papillons, two cats (and any other animal nearby, especially horses), reading, writing, singing, traveling, financial freedom, riding bikes, growing her faith and increasing her health. After recently losing over 100 pounds, her personal goal is to increase her strength so she can pick up a racquet and start playing tennis again as well as engage in horseback riding, a long awaited favorite. Praise the Lord, from whom all blessings flow—He has made all things new!
