Eirien Ethuil

Eirien Ethuil, born 1971 in Germany, studied English Language and Literature as well as Classical Philology at Universität des Saarlandes, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, University of Aberdeen and Bread Loaf School of English, Vermont. She works as a secondary school teacher for languages and runs creative writing courses at her school.

At an early age she started composing poetry, accumulating to hundreds of poems in her twenties, followed by short stories as well as historical and fantasy novels in her thirties. After an extraordinary journey of recovery from PTSD, she has put her experiences of healing into two autobiographical volumes of dramatic dialogues. Currently she is working on a commentary on the Song of Songs as well as translating her various longer works, since some of them have originally been written in German, some in English.

In her spare time, apart from writing, she likes to spend time in nature. Her hobbies include hiking, drawing, painting (preferably landscapes of Scotland, the country of her dreams), designing clothes, nature photography and reading, her all-time favourite being J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. Other favourite literature includes the Metaphysical Poets, several authors of English and German Romanticsm, Laurie Halse Anderson's Speak and Siobhan Dowd's A Swift Pure Cry.
