Who is H. Davidson? H. Davidson is the pen name of the author, speaker and historian who ventured to write about this dangerous topic. He is an Army veteran and a retired attorney with an undergraduate degree in Psychology who has spent some twenty years studying comparative religion. Thirty years of practicing law refined his professional craft of analyzing lengthy, complex writings such as the Koran, and then reducing those analyses into understandable, everyday language.

"The Evolution of Jihad" was prompted by the author's realization that most people with whom he engaged or observed had little or no knowledge of the Koran, or had accepted misinformation about it fostered by the media. The passage of time, or the pain of recollection, has caused us to lose sight of, or repress, the memories of the events of 9-11-2001. Those who were born after that date or who were very young then may be unaware of those events, as they find no mention or reminders in our current media, nor are they typically taught in history classes, although they form as much of an indelible part of our country's history as the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Yet so many have foregone any study of the thinking or motivations that drove those attackers, which continue to

drive the lives of millions across the globe.

"The Evolution of Jihad" analyzes a 1909 translation of the Koran, republished in 2005, with an extensive foreword and preface containing a wealth of historical background on its writing and the life of its author, the Prophet Muhammad. Being over one hundred years old, this translation and its accompanying historic material are untainted by the knowledge of any modern acts of terrorism, fears of reprisals by its authors, or concerns about expressing blunt, unvarnished facts. The author maintains that scholarly perspective. His book is neither critical nor judgmental in any way. It presents the entire passages from the Koran concerning the killing of infidels, in their context, leaving the readers to form their own judgments.

The author's travels to far-flung destinations such as Fiji, Hawaii, Alaska, Belize, Mexico, France, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Russia, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey, and Hungary have fostered a broad and realistic world view which supports and helps shape his writings. In addition to travel, the author enjoys motorcycling and scuba diving with his wife.
