Van Oystaeyen Fred

Prof.Dr.Fred Van Oystaeyen Is a professional Mathematician at the university of Antwerp,he holds honorary titles Honorary Professor at Beijing Normal University and also ,Doctor Honoris Causa,at the University of Ameria (Spain) and also at the Free University of Brussels (Belgium),in Almeria you can walk on the street named after him (Calle Fred Van Oystaeyen,see Google maps). He authored 24 Monographs published internationally and also more than 300 scientific research papers in international scientific journals.His Ph.D. is from the Free University of Amsterdam in 1972.He extensively traveled the world giving lectures,at the same time building a record collection of Blues music,his life-long hobby.Visiting the US he befriended several Blues musicians and was active in organizing some concerts too. Another hobby is growing Bonsai and Caudiciform Succulents because he is a fanatic lover of plants and nature, this led even to a publication in the journal Botanica.In 1947 he was born in Antwerp (Belgium) ,his father was a docker in the harbor of Antwerp.He found his wife and got married in 1977, now they have three children and two lovely grandchildren.
