Meghan Everette

Meghan is currently serving as a Full-Time School Ambassador Fellow at the U.S. Department of Education. Prior to serving at the Department, Meghan was an Elementary Mathematics Coach in Salt Lake City and the Executive Director of the ASCD Emerging Leader Alumni Affiliate. Meghan previously taught first, third, and fourth grades and is proud to have taught at George Hall, the National Turnaround Model School. Meghan was the 2013 Alabama Elementary Teacher of the Year and a 2015-2017 Hope Street Group National Teacher Fellow. She co-designed PoweredBy Teach to Lead Utah and spent six years as a blogger for Scholastic sharing classroom practices on everything from curriculum design to classroom libraries. She is the Utah ASCD President, has been a Digital Promise Micro-Credential Leader, and served on the CCSSO Teacher Recruitment and Retention Educator Steering Committee. Meghan co-authored Forces of Influence: How Educators Can Leverage Relationships to Improve Practice from ASCD. She received her doctorate from the University of Florida and her dissertation explored on how mass communication theory can be applied to improve school communication. In addition to finishing her degree, Meghan is also finishing her Fellowship at the Department. Her Capstone project highlighted communication practices for building trust with communities. She will be returning to work in the education field this fall.

She is mom to two boys and Boomer, the rescue pup. In her free time, Meghan enjoys reading fiction of most types, watching Alabama Football win games, catching up on the royals, and painting.
